There was tight security in Brooklyn as lawyers for notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquín Guzman Loera -- otherwise known as "El Chapo" -- gave their opening statements Tuesday. Guzman has pleaded not guilty to charges that he amassed a multi-billion-dollar fortune smuggling tons of cocaine and other drugs in a vast supply chain that reached well north of the border. He faces a potential life sentence if convicted.
